Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran: What Advice Did Swift and Others Give?

As the "Lego House" singer is slowly making it big in the music industry, Ed Sheeran revealed that there is one piece of advice that he kept hearing over and over from his fellow musicians, including "Back to December" singer Taylor Swift and Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin.

"The same thing Taylor said to me was the same thing Pharrell said, same thing Chris Martin said, is just the same thing: Constant humility, constant evolution and be a sponge, soak up your influences," Sheeran told 'Nightline'.

Sheeran, who is seemingly following this sage advice, claims his influences come from two other British musicians, Paul McCartney and Elton John.

"Elton John is someone who has done everything right in his career, and everything wrong in his career," said the 23-year-old singer. He added that John's mistakes serve as good advice to other people.

"He made so many mistakes that he could talk about freely and that's good advice," he added.

Sheeran turned from Taylor Swift's opening act to a musician selling out Madison Square Garden three times.

The singer revealed that he feels more comfortable playing and singing at his own show, than opening for someone.

"I don't really think there's pressure when people have come to see you because they want to be entertained," he said.

The "Give Me Love" singer said that playing for people who do not know him adds more pressure to his performances.

"They're not expecting to be impressed. They come to be like, 'We like your music, play it for us,' rather than, 'We've never heard of you, show us what you can do'," Sheeran adds.

In writing his music, Sheeran said he uses personal experience, such as relationships and heartbreaks. This is evident in his song "Don't," which is about a girlfriend who cheated on him with one of his friends.

"I think it's nice to get something positive out of a bad situation," Sheeran said.

The singer clarified that writing about his past experiences is not a form of bitterness.

"I'd say that's the way I'd look at it. I'm not trying to be bitter in any way. I just wanted to get something good out of that situation," added the singer.

In addition to being known for his music, Sheeran recently received recognition for his looks when the singer was included in People magazine in 2013.

"We're attracted to people who are good at things. So being in that People magazine thing is very flattering, because it means people think I'm good at my craft. But I would never say that I'm a sex symbol," Sheeran explained.

Meanwhile, Sheeran gave his fans another reason to smile, as he announced an affordable Australian tour next year.

The singer will have a tour in Australia next year, and tickets will be available for less than one hundred dollars.

Sheeran allegedly set the ticket prices low, since he remembers lining up trying to get good tickets when he was a child, and he believes that any fan, not only the wealthier ones, should have the chance to get the best seats in concerts.
