The Tampa Bay Rays Vs. The Detroit Tigers. Watch Online as Two American League Foes Battle Tonight as Detroit Pitcher Max Scherzer Shoots for 8-0

Detroit pitcher Max Scherzer has already had a great start. Not only does he have stellar numbers (7-0, 3.42 ERA), but he's been getting great run support from the red-hot bats of the Detroit Tigers.

Scherzer tries to be the first Tigers pitcher in 6 years to reach 8-0 tonight. The last to do it was Jeremy Bonderman, who accomplished the feat in 2007. Scherzer almost accomplished this last Friday at Baltimore, but the bullpen blew his lead and his win.

"It's always frustrating," said Scherzer, who retired the last 16 batters he faced. "At the end of the day, I always think we have one of the better teams around, so hopefully this doesn't happen too often."

If he loses, it definitely won't be for lack of support. The Tigers have averaged 8.02 runs per game this year, which is crazy enough. That is, until you consider the fact that they've given Scherzer 8.69 runs per game. This would explain why he's 5-0 in home starts despite boasting an ugly 5.17 ERA in homestends this year.

But, the good news is that Scherzer has a respectabl 3.04 ERA against Tampa Bay. The bad news is that he's 1-2 against them in four career starts.

Can he do it? Can Max Scherzer silence the surging Tampa bats this evening? Watch him attempt history live tonight, on MLB.tv's live-stream coverage.
