'Switched at Birth' New Cast, News: Christmas Special Episode, Bess Armstrong Plays Professor
Even though 'Switched at Birth' Season 4 has not yet been released, the producers of the series are proud to announce that a Christmas special episode, entitled "Yuletide Fortune Tellers," will premiere on Dec. 8 on ABC Family.
The holiday episode will try to explore the possibility of what would have happened if Bay and Daphne, played by Katie Leclerc and Vanessa Marano respectively, never happened.
On a side note the episode was written by Terrence Coli & Lizzy Weiss and directed by Michael Grossman.
In the special episode, Bay will bristle at the festive holiday spirit of Kathryn, portrayed by Lea Thompson, as the holiday approaches.
Regina, played by Constance Marie, will frustrate Daphne with her usual tradition of watching movies and ordering Chinese food for Christmas.
Fans can expect to see the two families having dinner together in the upcoming episode. After their dinner date, they wake to discover that the accidental switch never happened, according to CP Entertainment.
In the alternate life, Bay is an Olympic hopeful, while Daphne is a successful artist with an upcoming exhibit.
Stepping back into the recent season finale of the main storyline, however, Daphne was arrested and was going to jail, but Bay took the blame for her.
Beyond that, Daphne's pre-med professor in the upcoming season will be portrayed by Bess Armstrong, who played as Angela's mother on ABC's critically acclaimed teen drama 'My So-Called Life'.
Lizzy Weiss, the creator and executive producer of 'Switched at Birth', hinted the casting of Armstrong on her Twitter page on Oct. 14.
Armstrong also has recurring roles on 'House of Lies', 'Reckless', 'True Blood', 'Drop Dead Diva', 'Rake', 'Castle', 'CSI' and 'Mad Men'.
Fans can expect to see Armstrong frequently on 'Switched at Birth' as she will most likely assume a major recurring role.
'Switched at Birth' Season 4 will air sometime in January 2015 on ABC Family, according to CPÂ Entertainment.
