Surface Pro 4 Release Date News: Launch Window Suggested on Blog
Brian Hall, general manager for Surface, suggested an upcoming Surface Pro 4 release on the official Surface Blog on October 9.
In light of speculation involving Microsoft discontinuing the PC hybrid line, Hall wrote, "We are pleased to share that the following Surface Pro 3 accessories are designed with our product roadmap in mind and will be compatible with the next generation of the 'Pro' line of Surface."
Type cover keyboards, power, ethernet adapters, and a docking station accessory are among the accessories being referred to in Hall's post.
The blog entry has fueled rumors among fans of the product line, and many are speculating about the features and specs of the upcoming device. One is that the Surface Pro 4 might have similar dimensions and weight to the previous edition.
Owners of the Surface Pro 3 then will not need to purchase a new set of accessories, should they want to upgrade to the upcoming version.
Another report revealed that future models of the line will have the same 12-inch display. They might also run on the Windows 10 operating system.
According to Hall, companies will have a better investment in the Surface Pro products, "without worrying about support issues down the road."
None of the speculated specs and features have been confirmed by Microsoft. There is also no announcement as to when the new product will be launched as well, but some sources say that it will most likely be available next year.
The Surface Pro 3 was released in the summer of this year and it is touted as the iPad's main competitor in the PC hybrid line. Microsoft has recently stated that it is working on improving the device's Wi-Fi connectivity, and other undisclosed bugs.
