Super Smash Bros 4 Stages: Pic of the Day Screenshot Reveals Atari Inspired Pac-Land Level for Wii U (PICTURES)
Today's Super Smash Bros 4 Pic of the Day reveals a new stage, Pac-Land, an 8-bit background that comes to life with fairies and a cluster of color.
"Pic of the day. Is this a match made in heaven? Remember, no matter how big you may be, there is always someone bigger," wrote game developer Masahiro Sakurai in the Nintendo Miiverse.
In the picture Princess Rosalina and Luma are seen starring at an 8-bit fairy as another smaller Tinkerbell looking fairy looks on. See the Wii U screenshot here. The picture seems to be inspired by this image from 1984's Pac-Land for the Atari.
Friday's SSB4 Pic of the Day revealed some gameplay pictures of Donkey Kong using his smash attack along with info on customizable controls.
"Pic of the day. Here's Donkey Kong's third standard special attack, Storm Punch!! Thanks to the customization options, each fighter is stocked with 12 different special moves. The number of attacks is pretty appalling," wrote Sakurai in the Miiverse.
In the picture Donkey Kong is seen creating a side winding tornado out of his fist that is connecting with Luigi and Shiek. See the image here.
"We've made it so that customization options, including special attacks, will be disabled when you're playing online in With Anyone mode. After all, we have to think about game balance, and it's crucial for anonymous players to be able to use reliable tactics against one another. When you're playing in single player, battling with friends online, or playing locally, you're free to play however you want--with or without customization," continued Sakurai.
The full character list for the game so far is: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Zelda, the Villager, King Dedede, Lucario, Little Mac, Diddy Kong, Zero Suit Samus, Greninja, Charizard, Shiek, Yoshi, Ike, Pac-Man, Mii Fighters, and Lady Palutena.
The game's release date for the 3DS was revealed as October 3, which was a push back from its original July launch. The Wii U version is still unconfirmed, but it is anticipated for the holiday season.
