Super Smash Bros 4 Release Date: Wii U, 3DS Split Releases Between Winter and June 2014

Various reports regarding the "Super Smash Bros 4" on the 3DS and Wii U have given strong hints at the release date for the game on the platforms. And they indicate that although many expected a simultaneous launch, in all probability, the game will be released at split times, with the 3DS release date coming this summer where as the Wii U version will not be available until this winter.

At present, we have to rely on rumors or make do with whatever hints are dropped from Nintendo as to the exact release dates.

So far, Nintendo has only been updating pictures of the game on its website. According to the last release on Nintendo Direct, the game will have many new characters and much more attention to detail than previous installments of the game.

On Friday, Masahiro Sakurai, director of the Super Smash Bros. series, disclosed yet another assist trophy. He added a picture of the trophy with the caption "We didn't introduce ALL of the Assist Trophies in the Smash Bros. Direct. Here's Dillon from Dillon's Rolling Western!! He may rival Sonic in the art of rolling."

Adding a picture of the trophy, Sakurai put in an explanation saying, "He may be an animal, and his buckles are definitely on the adorable side, but there's no denying he looks cool!! His Assist Trophy can even do things like a quick charge."

Continuing to build the hype leading up to Super Smash Bros. release on E3, the producers of the game also released the Orne recently.

While it may possibly be an assist trophy, the game producers just mention it as an "enemy" from Kid Icarus: Uprising.

According to Sakurai, Orne is likely to be a single-player mode enemy.
