Today's Super Smash Bros 4 Pic of the Day is showing off some familiar faces and friendly rivals as Mario, MegaMan, Pac-Man, and Sonic the Hedgehog lineup for some poses.

"Pic of the day. This is quite a line-up of characters for the gaming world. I mean, it's amazing enough that Mario can fight Pikachu. I hope you enjoy this truly unique celebration!!" wrote game director Masahiro Sakurai in the Nintendo Miiverse.

Mario is Nintendo's juggernaut, and Sonic the Hedgehog is arguably the second biggest character next to the plumber for the Sega company. Mega Man has been a huge character whether he was on Nintendo, PlayStation, cartoons, and even comics for the Capcom company while Pac-Man represents the arcade era of games as its biggest face for Namco. Even Game & Watch represents the golden era of games if he becomes confirmed.

It was news enough when Sonic and Mario were finally able to go toe to toe in SSB Brawl, and it became more exciting when Mega Man was announced. Now, with Pac-Man added, the classic gaming supremacy can finally be found.See a picture of the four in action here.

The game's release date for the 3DS was revealed as October 3, which was a push back from its original July launch. The Wii U version is still unconfirmed, but it is anticipated for the holiday season.
