Super Smash Bros 4 Pic of the Day Reveals Kid Icarus' Orne Enemy Attacking Mario with Purple Flames and Green Skulls (PICTURE)

Super Smash Bros 4's Pic of the Day revealed a screen shot featuring Mario and bad guy Orne on the 3DS version of the game today.

"Pic of the day. The menacing foe, Orne! It inflicts devastating damage--it's even more powerful than the Ultimate Chimera in the last game. RUNNN!!" wrote game director Masahiro Sakurai in the Nintendo Miiverse forum.

In the picture, Mario is seen jumping as a green skull with little skulls coming out of its mouth is right behind him. The entire background is a purple haze, and the Italian plumber is under attack. In yesterday's Pic of the Day, Sakurai unveiled the Super Leaf, which gives characters a raccoon tail and ears, and lets them have similar powers to Mario in the NES classic, Super Mario Bros. 3.

"Pic of the day. With the Super Leaf, any fighter can have ears and a tail. You can also float in the air by pressing the jump button. We're still figuring out whether you'll be able to attack with the tail..." wrote game developer Masahiro Sakurai in the Nintendo Miiverse.

The picture shows the Super Leaf standing next to Princess Peach, Toon Link, and Marth as the trio dons raccoon ears and a tail. See the image here.

Commenters in the Miiverse had interesting points about the Super Leaf. What is to become of characters that already have a tail and ears that are similar to a raccoon's, for example Star Fox. While that seems unclear, the game is coming this year, so fans will be able to get their answers unless something else is revealed.

The characters that are confirmed for the game so far are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Zelda, the Villager, King Dedede, Lucario, Little Mac, Diddy Kong, Zero Suit Samus, Greninja, Charizard, Shiek, and Yoshi.

The game will launch this summer for the 3DS and in the winter for the Wii U.
