Super Smash Bros 4 Pic of the Day: Photo Introduces Smash Ball, Hints at Final Smash Moves as Kirby and Luigi Look On
In today's Super Smash Bros 4 Pic of the Day game director Masahiro Sakurai shows off the first picture of the Smash Ball, and hints at perhaps beginning to feature character's Final Smash moves.
In the picture, Kirby and Luigi are seen either jumping to or away from the Smash Ball, as the glowing orb seems to have grown to a much bigger size than its Wii counterpart.
"Pic of the day. That item that brings victory one step closer...the Smash Ball! Of course everyone wants it! Come to think of it, I haven't introduced any of the Final Smashes yet... Then again, if I introduced every single one, it'd take over a month's worth of posts," Sakurai wrote on the Nintendo Miiverse site. See the image here.
Sakurai was recently asked his opinion of the PlayStation 4 console in Famitsu Magazine.
"What I found most appealing was the machine's power," he said regarding Sony's system. "Looking over the various software, the screens are detailed and smooth. Load times are short and there are no slowdowns. Such performance right out the gate- this will help a lot of developers."
The video game executive of course works for Nintendo, but was not afraid to share his thoughts about the rival console. "Whether it's Nintendo or Sony, Japanese or foreign, I don't care about picking sides. I work hoping that the future of games and the game business will be more fun."
The only expressed one problem with the PS4, its lack of backwards compatibility. "If only I could play PS3 games on it, I could pack up my PS4 and my room would be cleaner," Sakurai said.
Super Smash Bros 4's release date has still not been announced but it has rumored to be arriving sometime in May for the Wii U and 3DS. This will be the first version of the game on a handheld.
The characters confirmed for the game so far are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Zelda, the Villager, King Dedede, Lucario, Little Mac, and now Diddy Kong.
