Today's Super Smash Bros 4 pic of the day features the newly announced Mii Fighters in action for the first time in a Wii U screenshot.

"Pic of the day. Here are some weapons the Mii Swordfighter can use: Shurikens of Light, Chakrams, and Gale Strikes. You can control the direction the Chakram is thrown, or even make it stall in midair. The Chakram is also the only one of these tied to the side special move, so you can use one of the other items consecutively with this one," wrote game developer Masahiro Sakurai in the Nintendo Miiverse.

In the picture there are three Mii's, they all appear to be dressed as the pirate type version. They are all throwing a unique weapon which is explained in the caption. See the image here.

Friday's pic of the day featured Mario, Sonic, MegaMan, and Pac-Man all hanging out seemingly before a battle.

"Pic of the day. This is quite a line-up of characters for the gaming world. I mean, it's amazing enough that Mario can fight Pikachu. I hope you enjoy this truly unique celebration!!" wrote game director Masahiro Sakurai in the Nintendo Miiverse.

The game's release date for the 3DS was revealed as October 3, which was a push back from its original July launch. The Wii U version is still unconfirmed, but it is anticipated for the holiday season.

The full character list for the game so far is: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Zelda, the Villager, King Dedede, Lucario, Little Mac, Diddy Kong, Zero Suit Samus, Greninja, Charizard, Shiek, Yoshi, Ike, Pac-Man, Mii Fighters, and Lady Palutena.
