Super Smash Bros 4 Gameplay: Special Attacks Customizable; Donkey Kong's Storm Punch Revealed in Pic of the Day

Today's Super Smash Bros 4 Pic of the Day features Donkey Kong using one of his special attacks against some of his competition.

"Pic of the day. Here's Donkey Kong's third standard special attack, Storm Punch!! Thanks to the customization options, each fighter is stocked with 12 different special moves. The number of attacks is pretty appalling," wrote game developer Masahiro Sakurai in the Nintendo Miiverse.

In the picture Donkey Kong is seen creating a side winding tornado out of his fist that is connecting with Luigi and Shiek. See the image here.

"We've made it so that customization options, including special attacks, will be disabled when you're playing online in With Anyone mode. After all, we have to think about game balance, and it's crucial for anonymous players to be able to use reliable tactics against one another. When you're playing in single player, battling with friends online, or playing locally, you're free to play however you want--with or without customization," continued Sakurai.

Yesterday Sakurai revealed one of Pac-Man's special attacks, Bonus Fruit.

"Pic of the day. Pac-Man's standard special move, Bonus Fruit. As you charge this move, the bonuses will change, and all of them have different characteristics and movement patterns when thrown. The bonuses cycle in the same order as in the original game, and the charge-up period doubles once you cycle beyond the orange," wrote Sakurai in the Nintendo Miiverse.

In the Wii U screenshot Pac-Man is seen with his palm raised and open while a pixelated strawberry hovers above his hand. See the image here.

The full character list for the game so far is: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Zelda, the Villager, King Dedede, Lucario, Little Mac, Diddy Kong, Zero Suit Samus, Greninja, Charizard, Shiek, Yoshi, Ike, Pac-Man, Mii Fighters, and Lady Palutena.

The game's release date for the 3DS was revealed as October 3, which was a push back from its original July launch. The Wii U version is still unconfirmed, but it is anticipated for the holiday season.
