Super Smash Bros 4 Characters: Pokemon X and Y Dedenne Joins as Pokeball Item Attack (PHOTO)
Super Smash Bros 4 is adding a non playable Pokemon X and Y character to the fray for both the Wii U and 3DS version of the game.
The character Dedenne will be appearing as a Pokeball Pokemon in the game. This means when a Pokeball is retrieved by a character, they can then throw it at an opponent and a creature will pop out. This Pokemon will then attack everyone around it except the thrower.
See a picture of Dedenne here.
Dedenne made its first appearance in Game Freak's latest Pokemon installation, X and Y. It is an electric/fairy type that sends shock waves into the surrounding air.
Pokeball Pokemon appear at random, and some appear more than others. This item form has been part of the games since the N64 installation in the late 90s.
Already in the game as playable characters are Pikachu and Lucario. Previous games have included Jigglypuff, Pichu, and MewTwo.
Lucario was only unveiled as a playable character last month.
"Pic of the day. The heroic Aura Pokémon, Lucario, joins the battle!! We've increased the influence of Aura this time, so a damaged Lucario is truly a force to be reckoned with," the game's developer Masahiro Sakurai posted to the Miiverse. See the picture here.
Lucario is a very popular character in the Pokemon franchise and plays a key part in X and Y as he is one of the Pokemon who mega evolves, and the first demonstrated in the game.
"Lucario joined the battle for the first time in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which was released six years ago. The production staff of Brawl worked really hard to expand the character roster--without their efforts, Lucario probably never would have joined the battle," Sakurai posted on Miiverse.
The characters confirmed for the game so far are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Zelda, the Villager, King Dedede, Lucario, Little Mac, and now Diddy Kong.
The game is expected out sometime this spring, however, Nintendo has not confirmed the date yet.
