In today's Super Smash Bros 4 Pic of the Day, two of the newest Pokemon additions to the game are showcased battling each other, Greninja and Charizard.

Greninja is the final evolved form of Froakie, the water starter from Pokemon X and Y, while Charizard is the final evolved form of Charmander, the fire starter from the original games, Red, Blue, and Green.

"Pic of the day. Here's a very, very new fighter in the upcoming Smash games, Greninja. Greninja's sophisticated moves are extremely fun to use once you get used to how it controls!" wrote game developer Masahiro Sakurai in the Nintendo Miiverse. See the picture here. The picture is simply just Greninja in a battle stance, looking ready to strike.

"The side special attack Shadow Sneak is a move that makes Greninja suddenly disappear and ambush opponents. If you press and hold the button, Greninja will move a greater distance. Another unique feature is you can move Greninja around freely while charging up." he continued. See the image here. In this picture, Charizard and Greninja are going head to head in an all out battle in an indoor arena.

Other Pokemon fighters in the game are Pikachu and Lucario. There is still no word on Jigglypuff yet, and MewTwo and Pichu were in previous installments of the game. Pokemon Trainer had a combination of Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard.

The latest Nintendo Direct event announced the Wii U version of the game will be released this Winter, while the 3DS game is heading to consoles this Summer.

The characters confirmed for the game so far are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Zelda, the Villager, King Dedede, Lucario, Little Mac, Diddy Kong, Greninja, Charizard, Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, and Yoshi.
