Super Smash Bros 4 announced a new character's addition to the game today, King Dedede, the large mallet carrying villain from Kirby's franchise of games.

SSB4 director, Masahiro Sakurai revealed the roster update on the 'Pic of the Day' on Miiverse.

"Pic of the day. Celebrating the launch of Kirby: Triple Deluxe in Japan, King Dedede joins the battle! Check out his evocative facial expressions on the official web site," Sakurai wrote on Miiverse. See the picture here.

King Dedede previously appeared in the last installment of the game, Brawl, for the Wii console. The arch-nemesis of the lovable Kirby is the newest character added to the game since Zelda was announced a few weeks ago.

Yesterday's Pic of the Day revealed the Rainbow Road stage on the 3DS. The level, inspired by the infamous hard stage in the Mario Kart games, featured Star Fox and the Wii Fit Trainer on screen while a Shy Guy villain from the Super Mario games drove down the middle.

"Pic of the day. Watch out for the Shy Guys driving down Rainbow Road," Sakurai wrote on his Miiverse update page. See the picture here.

The characters confirmed for the game so far are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Zelda, and the Villager. King Dedede makes character 21.

The game is expected to hit the Wii U and 3DS late spring, but a release date has not officially been announced yet.
