Sunday Best Season 8 Renewal? Season 7 Winner Announced on BET Show August 31
'Sunday Best', the BET network talent show, announced its Season 7 winner, Geoffrey Golden last Sunday. However, the long-running gospel talent search program has yet to be renewed for another installment. As it stands, fans are left wondering if the show will be cancelled, or if it's going to come back for a Season 8.
One reason why fans are starting to lean toward the idea that the show has been cancelled for good, is that the Season 7 ratings were seriously lackluster. While it's too soon to jump to conclusions, again, there is no word about a Season 8 just yet.
On a side note, the two Season 7 finalists were Geoffrey Golden and Candace Benson, who both appeared eager on the finale episode that aired August 31. The judges of the contest, Kierra Sheard, Donnie McClurkin, and Yolanda Adams, made their decision and announced that Geoffrey Golden will be taking home the prize this year.
For winning 'Sunday Best' the champion gospel singer is awarded a national recording contract, as part of the prize.
While the show's rating might have plummeted recently, fans are thinking that the performances this time around have been pretty spectacular. While the show may not have the best ratings for Season 7, there's still a chance that the show can recover its lost viewership with a Season 8.
The series 'Sunday Best' first premiered in October, 2007, and is still hosted by Kirk Franklin.
