'Suicide Squad' Cast News, Rumors: Jared Leto to Portray The Joker in Warner Bros & DC Comic's Upcoming Project

If the latest rumors on the Internet are to be believed, Jared Leto, who received the Oscar for the "Best Supporting Actor' for the 'Dallas Buyers Club', is being considered for the role of The Joker in the Warner Bros. and DC Comics upcoming movie project 'Suicide Squad'.

Quoting an anonymous source familiar with the David Ayer film, The Wrap reported that Jared Leto is "circling a key role."

In fact, the rumors started circulating after Ryan Gosling, the actor who was initially considered for The Joker role, declined to sign a deal that has options for multiple films. There are also rumors that a number of other actors were considered for the role in 'Suicide Squad' in different stages of discussions.

These actors include Tom Hardy, Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jesse Eisenberg. The last mentioned actor is expected to reprise his role as Superman's arch enemy Lex Luthor.

'Suicide Squad' is based on the DC Comic and will adhere to the story of a group of supervillains who are given an opportunity to absolve themselves of their misdemeanors. However, they have to go on a mission that might result in eveyone's death.

A report by Mail Online revealed that 'Suicide Squad' has been announced recently as the first Warner Bros. and DC Comics project after the 'Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice' film directed by Zack Snyder.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jared Leto shared that he has his eye on one project. The Academy Award-winning actor also said that he is excitement over his new movie project that will keep him busy, apart from his music career.

Jared Leto, who is the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman, also revealed that he is eagerly waiting for working on films again since his tour is wrapping up. He added that he is very grateful when it comes to the incredible opportunities in the movies for him.

Leto said, "I am excited about what's happening. It's going to be an exciting 2015." He, however, remained silent when he was asked about the new movie project. The actor, however, admitted that he has promised to keep his mouth shut and said that that there will be something to be discussed very shortly.

'Suicide Squad' is scheduled to be released on Aug. 5, 2016.
