‘StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void’ Now Standalone Game, Adds Two Co-Op Modes- Archon & Allied Commanders

Blizzard announced during BlizzCon 2014 that the expansion of 'StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void' will now be a standalone game with a new co-op mode called Archon, which allows two players to share a base and fight against their enemies.

According to Blizzard, by allowing two players to share the responsibility of defeating their opponents and in managing their forces and resources, players can focus more on the execution of their own strategies to win in their own small battles.

However, besides Archon Mode, the other co-op mode included in the BlizzCon announcement was the Allied Commanders, where players can take part in the StarCraft lore and complete their given missions as a team.

Each of the commanders in the mode will be given a unique set of abilities and can strengthen their own troops in different ways.

As each objective is fulfilled, players can upgrade and strengthen their characters.

During the convention, Blizzard also gave a preview on how the game would be like.

Upon going into the game's sign up page, the player will read an overview of the current state of the world and will be introduced as the character Hierarch Artanis, leader of the protoss race.

"Years ago, your homeworld of Aiur fell to the merciless zerg Swarm. Now, at long last, you have raised a powerful fleet of warships known as the Golden Armada, and are poised to reclaim your world," reads the website.

It also stated that the players main goal is to defeat Amon and his troops and prevent him from spreading evil into the entire galaxy.

Despite the preview and the new update in the game, Blizzard has yet to reveal the actual release date of 'StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void'.
