'Star Wars: Episode 7' Release Date, Plot Details, Cast News: The Quest To Find Luke Skywalker

'Star Wars Episode 7', the upcoming addition to the legendary space opera franchise, is directed by J.J. Abrams and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

In terms of the cast, some of new actors and actresses in the soon-to-be box office hit have already been confirmed.

Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, Max von Sydow, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac are among the newly confirmed cast members.

Oscar Awardee Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie (of 'Game of Thrones' fame) will also join the cast, but their roles in the movie have not yet been disclosed. However, rumors are saying that Nyong'o will be playing the part of Obi Wan Kenobi's descendant.

Beyond all that, rumors continue to swirl about the addition of WWE star Sheamus to the cast. Speculation claims that he will be taking on the role of Darth Vader in the film. This conclusion became bolstered when the professional wrestler posted a picture of a lightsaber over Twitter recently.

Legacy actors and actresses will also appear in the film as their former roles. Mark Hamill will be playing the role of Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford will play the character of Han Solo and Carrie Fisher will be Princess Leia.

Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels are also part of the original cast that will reprise their roles.

The story apparently starts with the falling of Luke Skywalker's severed hand which is gripping a lightsaber. The severed hand, tumbling through space, falls onto a desert planet.

After that, the hand is discovered by Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. They recognized the weapon as a Jedi relic and decide to look for its owner. Their search leads them to Han Solo and Chewbacca, but the pair isn't flying around in the Millennium Falcon anymore.

Han Solo and the Wookie recognize Luke's lightsaber, but mention that they haven't seen their Jedi friend in over thirty years. Meanwhile, heinous forces on an ice planet are busy building a super weapon that is capable of destroying the whole solar system.

'Star Wars Episode 7' will hit the big screen on December 18, 2015.
