Star Wars Episode 7 Movie News: Cast Rumors Indicate Dark Knight Star Gary Oldman Confirmed After Talks (VIDEO)
The Dark Knight Rises Star, actor Gary Oldman, has admitted that he has been contacted about appearing in the new Star Wars movie coming out next year - Star Wars Episode 7.
While promoting the new RoboCop reboot in which he stars, Oldman was asked by Sky Movies whether he'd been contacted concerning Star Wars: Episode VII.
"They've called," said the 55-year-old British actor to Sky Movies.
Oldman admitted nothing official has been agreed upon regarding the new Star Wars films.
Oldman is most recently known for his role Commissioner Gordon in Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy films which starred Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman. In addition, Oldman also played as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films.
When Star Wars: Episode III was in production there were reports that Oldman would be playing General Grievous, but that didn't happen.
Whilst R2-D2's actor has been confirmed by Disney, we're still none the wiser about any of the other stars due to appear in the upcoming film, though there have been rumors about both Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving making appearances.
Star Wars Episode VII will be the first Star Wars film made by Lucasfilm after Disney acquired the rights. The film is expected to feature the return of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa), and Harrison Ford as space cowboy Han Solo.
The first ever Star Wars movie was called Star Wars: A New Hope. The 1977 films produced two sequels in the first trilogy created by George Lucas titled "Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back" in 1980 and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in 1983.
Star Wars Episode VII will make its long awaited return to the big screen on December 18 2015.
