Star Wars Episode 7 Movie Plot Rumors: 'Luke Skywalker' Mark Hamill Excited About New Cast Members

It is now confirmed "Star Wars Episode 7" will see the return of many familiar faces from the original trilogy. However, Mark Hamill has said that he himself is really excited about working with the new cast members.

The 62-year old actor recently went on social media to express his thoughts.

"UK table read - I was knocked out by the diverse & extraordinarily talented new cast members. WOW they're good! The saga is in superb hands," wrote Hamill on Twitter yesterday.

Lucasfilm issued the following statement on April 29:

"The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels [C-3PO], Peter Mayhew [Chewbacca], and Kenny Baker [R2-D2] in the new film."

Social media has been buzzing about the stars returning to the sci-fi movie franchise for the first time since "Star Wars: Episode 6: Return of the Jedi" back in 1983.

"Star Wars Episode 7" will be the first Star Wars film made by Lucasfilm since Disney acquired the rights to the franchise.

The film will feature the return of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa), and Harrison Ford as space cowboy Han Solo. Ford is reportedly expected to have a significant role in the upcoming film.

"We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud," said film director J.J. Abrams in a statement.

"Star Wars Episode 7" is set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2015.
