'Star Wars: Episode 7' Movie Cast News: Matthew McConaughey Reveals Interest in Upcoming Film Role
In latest 'Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens' movie news, 'Interstellar' star Matthew McConaughey revealed in a recent interview why is interested in appearing in a future film of the long running sci-fi film franchise.
"Sure - there's not anything that I'm not open to embracing" said McConaughey at a press conference in London when he promoted his latest 'Interstellar' movie.
"I want it to be a quality script, I want a quality character. I want to be a little scared of it. I want to have new challenges. I want to do something... find in a character where I can get to a point where I feel like nobody could be doing this but me. I'm going to have an original experience... an original take. That takes work to get to that point, but whatever the genre I'm wide open."
The 44-year-old Uvalde, Texas native revealed why Han Solo's Wookie companion Chewbacca is his favorite Star Wars character of all-time.
"King Kong is one of my favorite love stories. I've got an affection for the mammalian in all of us. I'm simple - I've always got a soft spot for the furry creatures [like Chewbacca]," said McConaughey, when he compared Chewbacca to another iconic character in cinema history.
As of right now, there are no reports that confirms whether or not the Academy Award Winner (for 'Dallas Buyers Club') will appear in a 'Star Wars' film in the near future.
'Star Wars Episode 7' features the return of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa), and Harrison Ford as space cowboy Han Solo in the upcoming film.
'Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens' is set to arrive in movie theaters on December 18, 2015, while 'Star Wars Episode 8' is scheduled to debut in 2017.
