'Star Wars Episode 7' Movie Plot Rumors, Cast News: Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher Confirmed
Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are now confirmed to star in "Star Wars: Episode 7." It has been reported by multiple sources that they will reprise their roles in the newest film.
Lucasfilms issued the following statement Tuesday afternoon:
"The Star Wars team is thrilled to announce the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels [C-3PO], Peter Mayhew [Chewbacca], and Kenny Baker [R2-D2] in the new film," according to the Lucasfilm press release.
The original actors from the original "Star Wars" trilogy were recently spotted in London, where the upcoming movie will begin filming soon. Social media has been buzzing about the stars returning to the sci-fi movie franchise for the first time since "Star Wars: Episode 6: Return of the Jedi" back in 1983.
"Met up with @HamillHimself in London today. I wonder why he's here," tweeted 'Guardians of the Galaxy' actor Peter Serafinowicz on April 27, hinting that Hamill is in London to begin filming the latest "Star Wars" movie.
The "Indiana Jones" star was also seen in London a few days ago.
"Harrison Ford chatting to the pilots of London's Air Ambulance in Grosvenor Square https://www.flickr.com/photos/kertappa/14017940142/ ...," wrote Matthew Bell via Twitter showing a photo of Ford alongside British pilots in London.
Carrie Fisher also poked fun at the hysteria of the fans and media regarding the legendary actors reuniting to the franchise that made them superstars.
"So my do dog Gary has been spotted in London, but apparently without me. Who has he been seeing? Let me know if you have any clues," wrote Carrie Fisher on Twitter on April 26.
"Star Wars Episode 7" will be the first Star Wars film made by Lucasfilms after Disney acquired the rights to the franchise. The film will feature the return of Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa), and Harrison Ford as space cowboy Han Solo. Ford is reportedly expected to have significant role in the upcoming film.
"We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud," said film director J.J. Abrams in a statement.
"Star Wars Episode 7" is set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2015.
