Star Wars Episode 7 Cast News: Mark Hamill Concerned Film Might Disappoint

In a recent interview, legendary actor Mark Hamill talks about reprising his role as Luke Skywalker and the pressure of living up to fan's expectations in the upcoming "Star Wars Episode 7" film.

"I haven't seen those movies since they were in movie theaters. I don't watch them on home theater or DVD. There are people who are far more expert in it than I am. They know more, way more, about them than I do, and they care more. ... You don't have to love them, but I am surprised sometimes at how vehemently they get if they're not satisfied, which is scary. I have this feeling that no matter what we do there's going to be a faction that really is disappointed. You just can't live up to that. Any kind of reunion type endeavor, whatever it is ... you can never go home again," said Hamill to the Orlando Sentinel.

The 62-year-old Californian native also talked about reuniting with his former co-stars in their first film together since "Return of the Jedi" back in 1983.

"I hadn't seen Tony Daniels or Carrie (Fisher) or Harrison (Ford) or Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) in ages... it was wonderful to see them again, because I didn't expect to. Again, this is all so unexpected. It's like getting out that pair of pants you haven't worn in five years and finding a 20-dollar bill in the pocket," said Hamill.

He also explained how he prepared himself in order to return to the role that made him an international superstar, "Star Wars: A New Hope" arrived in movie theaters back in 1977, nearly 40 years ago.

"I've altered my diet. I've started working out," said Hamill. "But on the film itself: I toured departments, I've looked at wardrobe, and I saw the creature shop. I went around and met all the cast people, saw the technicians working on some new things."

The actor talked about how passionate fans are to find out about spoilers regarding the latest "Star Wars" movie.

"This is a whole different world" said Hamill. "The first one no one cared. The second one there was a lot of interest, but it was before the internet... I tell people we're not trying to annoy you or tease you or play some massive game. Basically, what the goal is to keep the surprises for the movie instead of spoiling them on the internet."

In the same interview, Hamill also talked about his iconic voiceover performance as the Joker in the very popular "Batman: The Animated Series" and the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and Batman: Arkham City" games.

"Largely because of Joker, I've had quite the prolific career in voiceover. I love being a character actor. I'm in my own insular world ... I feel like an actor in the golden age of radio, where they don't really look at you physically," said Hamill. "I love, love, love doing this kind of work."

"Star Wars Episode 7" is slated to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2015.
