Netflix New Movies and TV Series News: 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' Airs Final Season (VIDEO)

Netflix has announced it has reached a deal with Disney and Lucasfilm to broadcast the last season of the critically acclaimed animated "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" series beginning on March 7. The cartoon series stars Jedi Knight Obi Wan Kenobi, young Jedi apprentice Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker before he became known as Darth Vader.

Clone Wars was a very popular series when it aired new episodes on Cartoon Network. However, the cartoon show was canceled last year, following Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm. The sixth and final 13-episode season will be titled "The Lost Missions." In the new season, it will show what happened to Ahsoka after parting ways with the Jedi Council as the Jedi's clash with the Sith lords increases.

The series' setting takes place between two of the movie prequels 2002's "Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones" and 2005's "Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith." This will be first time any Star Wars content has been offered on the popular streaming service.

In the final season teaser, Jedi Master Yoda communicates with fallen Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn, the character that was first played by Liam Neeson in the 1999 movie "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace." This is just the first part of the agreement between Disney and Netflix that will bring all five preceding seasons of Clone Wars series to the service, along with director's cut episodes of seasons 1-5 and the Clones movie.

Starting next year, Netflix will also be the special streaming destination for first-run, live-action and animated moves from a number of Disney affiliates, including Lucasfilm, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar and Marvel Studios.
