Star Wars 7 Movie Rumors: Will Ford, Fisher Reprise Original Cast Roles? Abrams Not Using "Expanded Universe" Plot? 2015 Release Date [NEWS]
We all know that sci-fi fan and Star Trek director landed the job for the new Star Wars 7 movie after George Lucas sold Lucasfilm Limitedto Disney in October 2012. Since then a lot of rumors concerning the new Star Wars plot, cast and release date have been keeping bloggers like me busy.
Let's recap:
Will Harrison Ford and/or Carrie Fisher be cast to reprise their roles as Han Solo and Princess Leia? So far no word from either camp with the exception of a few off-screen jabs at the media frenzy.
However, Abrams and the Star Wars 7 team reportedly confirmed they wouldn't be using any characters from the Expanded Universe books, which features Han and Leia's children, Jacen and Jaina.
What about the baddie? No sci-fi epic is complete without a ruthless villain trying to take over the galaxy. Warwick Davis [Harry Potter, Star Wars Episode VI] hasn't been shy about his interest in the upcoming Star Wars 7 movie.
"A villain would be nice," Davis said, according to the Business Standard. "Some sort of villainous character with a lightsaber. I'd enjoy that."
And what about this year's Comic-Con 2013? Disney is apparently bypassing the convention to focus on their D23 Expo in August. If Disney passes on Comic-Con does that mean Star Wars fans will finally hear some concrete details regarding movie 7?
"For the first time at the D23 Expo, Star Wars fans can have access to experiences created for them by Lucasfilm and Disney. Darth Vader: The Evolution of a Villain, located in the DCP pavilion, showcases the development of the iconic villain from early concepts to striking realization," according to a press statement from Disney.
Though they didn't mention Star Wars 7, it would be tough to imagine they wouldn't shed some light on the highly anticipated 2015 release.
