'Star Trek Beyond' News, Spoilers: Movie Adds Posthumous Performance From Anton Yelchin?

Anton Yelchin will no longer appear in the fourth installment of the "Star Trek" franchise following the actor's tragic death.

"Star Wars: Episode VII-The Force Awakens"-director JJ Abrams confirmed that Yelchin will still be part of "Star Trek Beyond," following the actor's death last month. The upcoming film will feature a posthumous performance from the actor, who died in an accident on June 19 at the age of 27.

While Yelchin will still appear in the third installment of the franchise, he will not be recast for the fourth installment. According to Abrams, Yelchin's Pavel Chekov will not be part of the new film.

"I would say there's no replacing him. There's no recasting. I can't possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better," said Abrams in his interview with Toronto Sun.

Since the disclosure, fans now speculate whether Pavel Chekov will be killed off in the upcoming film. Abrams also refuse to reveal anything about it.

"I have thought about it, we're working on it, and it's too early to talk about it," he said.

Meanwhile, it was also confirmed that Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as George in the third installment of the "Star Trek" franchise. George is the father of Captain James T. Kirk, who was last seen in the original "Star Trek" film in 2009.

Simon Pegg is also expected to return to the film as Scotty, although he will not be writing the script for the new installment.

"Star Trek Beyond" opens in U.S. theaters on July 22, while the premiere date of "Star Trek 4" has yet to be announced.
