'Star Trek Beyond' News: Justin Lin Film Expected To Be The Third Best In The Franchise?
Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond" is upcoming this month and its is revealed that the sci-fi film is set to have a fair opening gross.
"Star Trek Beyond" is assumed to gross between $48 and $60 million on its opening weekend, Deadline has learned. As per the publication, the forthcoming sci-fi film is also set to be the third best in the "Star Trek" feature canon.
Despite the prediction on "Star Trek Beyond's" performance when it hits theaters, it is also believed the the film could do well in the box office, for two reasons. According to Deadline, the mod-day July release date for the sci-fi film is at par with the release date of an array of films in the past, such as "Dark Knight," "Captain America: The First Avenger," Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man," and "The Wolverine."
For the record, J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" grossed more than $385 million worldwide in 2009 while his "Star Trek Into Darkness" made more than $467 million globally in 2013, as per Box Office Mojo.
Directed by Lin, "Star Trek Beyond" is the third installment of the "Star Trek" franchise. It follows the USS Enterprise crew exploring the reaches of an uncharted space, until they come face to face with a new foe who takes them into a challenge.
The film stars Deep Roy, Fiona Vroom, John Cho, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Zachary Quinto, Simon pegg, Karl Urban, Sofia Boutella, Chris Pine, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana, and Anton Yelchin, among others.
Lin's "Star Trek Beyond" is slated to be released on July 22.
