'Stanistan' Season 1 Cast News, Rumors: USA Network's New Series Casts 'Dexter' Star Jennifer Carpenter
As USA Network is gearing up to premiere the pilot episode of its new Middle Eastern drama series, 'Stanistan' fans are wondering who is going to appear in it. News has just broke about Jennifer Carpenter, of 'Dexter' fame, and her confirmation as a lead role in the upcoming TV series.
The series will focus on an American compound in the made up Middle Eastern country of Stanistan. Within the compound, State Department workers, undercover CIA officers, and journalists will find themselves in situations of that test the balance of power.
The drama series stems from Universal Cable Productions, and its pilot is being written and produced by Andy Parker.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Richard Scarth, Mary Louise Vitelli and Maureen Ryan are the co-executive producers, and Steve Scheffer is assuming the role of Executive Producer.
Stepping back onto the topic of Carpenter's lead role, she will be playing public affairs officer Marcie Post. Her character will be noted as "hyper-alert" and will always seem to be ten steps ahead of everyone else.
Her job at the U.S Embassy in Stanistan is to put a positive spin on all the news that stems from the region. With a lot of conflict brewing in that part of the world, fans can only imagine a kind of job that's ten steps ahead of her.
On a side note, fans are excited to learn that Jennifer Carpenter will be returning to television in a lead role. She's best known for her portrayal of Detective Debra Morgan on Showtime's 'Dexter'.
