‘Spectre’ Movie News, Cast Update: Actor Daniel Craig Talks Helping with James Bond Movie Scripts
Daniel Craig has revealed something that most fans of James Bond films were unaware of. In a recent interview with DuJour magazine, the British actor said that he not only embodies 007, but also influences the scripts of the movies based on the iconic secret agent. Craig said that he loves to provide inputs to the creative process; even if t means locking horns with some of the writers.
IB Times reports that when the magazine asked the 47-year-old star about how he gets involved in the scriptwriting, Craig replied, ''As much as I possibly can without treading on toes, although you have to offend some people sometimes to move on.''
Craig, who played Bond for the first time in 2006's 'Casino Royale,' said that he is always eager to put his stamp on it by including his own jokes. "When I first started, they offered me a blank page, really, and what that means is I was allowed to add my own bits. I wanted there to be gags, and I wanted there to be funny bits, but I wanted them to come from a fresh place,'' he explained.
Having already acted in three Bond movies, Craig is currently preparing to reprise his famed role on the big screen for the new 007 movie 'Spectre' and is also said to have some role in choosing the director. The actor explained, "I wanted desperately for Sam Mendes to do this movie, but at the time he had other commitments. I said he's got to do it. We started something with him on the last movie, the beginning of a relationship with a director I haven't had in a long time.''
It is reported that Craig will continue to star as Bond in at least one more 007 movie after the upcoming 'Spectre,' which is set for release in the UK release on Oct. 26, 2015.
It is interesting to note that Craig's revelations come in the wake of former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan saying that he was hopeful that the iconic spy franchise would get a gay James Bond in the future. Brosnan also said that he "great black actor" taking on the role.
Speaking to Details, Brosnon said, "Sure. Why not?" adding, "Actually, I don't know how it would work. I don't think Barbara [Broccoli, producer] would allow a gay Bond to happen in her lifetime. But it would certainly make for interesting viewing."
