Recently SpaceX received $1 billion dollars in funding from Google and Fidelity. This capital infusion brings the valuation of SpaceX to a whopping $10 billion and also opens the pathway for future collaborations between Google and SpaceX.

Although no exact plans were revealed on how SoaceX plans to do this, but with such a large amount of funding available their options are definitely open. Elon Musk is considered one of the great thinkers of our time, and all his business ideas reflect his forward thinking.

Elon Musk ultimately wants to prepare humans for our next great venture, space. He firmly believes that the first step is to be able to establish a colony on Mars.

Musk told Bloomberg Businessweek, "The deal will help create a global communications system that is able to bring internet access to a wider set of people. Instead of having computers pass data from a series of wires on the ground, it would be better to beam the information to a satellite in our atmosphere and have it beamed back to a specific destination on Earth. With this powerful signal, Google and SpaceX can possibly bring the power of the internet to areas that have difficulty acquiring a signal, such as in third world countries,"
