Sony Xperia Z4 Release Date, Specs, Rumors: Fourth Generation Xperia Handset Arrive in March 2015?

Latest reports suggest that Sony will be launching its upcoming flagship smartphone Xperia Z4 at the Mobile World Congress in March 2015.

The next Mobile World Congress is scheduled to be held from March 2 to 5 in 2015 and it is expected that the Japanese tech giant will follow the timeline of its previous release dates.

Sony released the Xperia Z2 at MWC 2014, while the Xperia Z3 was launched in September this year. In fact, Sony is known to update its Xperia Z line once every six months. Considering these points, it is very likely that the Xperia Z4 will come in March 2015.

According to some recent reports, Sony has realized that it may not be the best idea to update the smartphone frequently as it lowers the anticipation of the consumers for the latest smartphone, because they believe that there will be a new one in six months.

Citing reliable sources, Android Origin reported that Sony will give up this strategy because it only makes the smartphone market more saturated. Therefore, it is expected that henceforth the company will update its smartphone line annually, something similar to its business competitors like Apple and Samsung.

Moving into rumors about the Sony Xperia Z4 sources say the device will be launched in the phablet category and will come with a 5.5-inch screen display having 2560 x 1440 quad HD resolution. As far as the hardware is concerned, the upcoming smartphone will pack a 2.5 GHz quad-core Krait processor or 2.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor.

Similar to the previous smartphones in the Xperia Z line, the upcoming handset will also have a separate graphics chipset, probably the Adreno 420. In addition, the Xperia Z4 will also pack a 4GB of RAM.

According to rumors, the Xperia Z4 will come in 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants. In addition, the handset will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop, and incorporate a 3300 mAh battery, have a 20.7 MP rear shooter with 4K recording and 3.2 MP front-facing shooter.

Lastly, it will have an aluminum body and be water proof just like the previous Xperia handsets.

However, all these specs have not been confirmed by Sony who has yet to reveal the specific details of its fourth generation Sony Xperia handset.
