Sony Xperia Z vs. Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. HTC One: Release Date, Specs, Features, Price and More [VIDEO]

Many believe the iPhone 5 is the superior smartphone when it comes to specs and features. That may have been true a few years ago but competing phone makers like Samsung, Sony and HTC are stepping up their game and giving the iPhone 5 a run for it's money.

With the next generation of phones (i.e. Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z, and HTC One] many believe the Apple iPhone will finally be dethroned.

Let's compare the design of the three phones. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is upgraded to a 5-inch screen, but marginally different from the S3. The Xperia Z fails in this category with a seemingly cheap plastic case. Though the design is flimsy its waterproof which is a nice bonus [no more "I dropped my phone in the toilet...send me your numbers" Facebook pages].

The HTC One may take the cake for design, with a full Aluminum casing. If Tony Starke had to pick, let's just say he'd go with HTC One.

All three phones have pretty good camera options. Though it performs well, the HTC One comes only has a 4 megapixel camera. The photos look good, but quality will suffer the more you blow the picture up. The Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z both have 13 megapixel cameras; a likely upgrade for the iPhone 5S.

When it comes to processor the HTC One and Galaxy S4 win, packing 2GB of RAM. The One [1.7 GHz] runs a little slower than the Galaxy S4 [1.9 GHz]. The difference is only really noticed in battery efficiency. Again the Xperia Z bites the bullet with a slightly less efficient 1.5GHz.

All three phones boast Full HD support. Many believe the HTC One to have the brightest, most vibrant screen but many prefer the Super AMOLED Galaxy S4 that has a much better color distribution.

It's tough to measure battery because it all comes down to how each user uses the each phone. But it's a safe bet to say the Xpera Z is lacking in this area. The Galaxy S4, with a faster processor [which demands less from the battery] wins the battery battle.

The Galaxy S4 will hit AT&T shelves May 10th for $200 (16GB) and $250 (32GB) with contract.  The HTC One has been available since February and is priced at $199 for the 32GB (with AT&T) contract. The Sony store now has the Xperia 7 on sale for a whopping $630! Good luck with that sale Sony.
