Sony Software Update News: Sony to Fix Snapdragon 810-Related Heating Issues on Xperia Z4, Z3+

A revised edition of Snapdragon 810 chipset powers the Sony Xperia Z3+ as well as the Xperia Z4, which is meant for the Japanese market, but this particular chipset has been known to be plagued by thermal heating issues. Even the Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 are not free from this problem.

Quoting Phone Arena, IB Times reports that the Japanese tech manufacturer is already aware of the problem caused by the contentious chipset. Hence, the company has assured the users that it will be releasing new software this summer to address the issue. Till the release of the software, Sony has advised owners of Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z3+ to turn off their handset many times daily and back up important data regularly.

In addition, Sony has recommended that the users switch off their handset while charging the device. Meanwhile, users who are unhappy with the new Z4 and Z3+ flagships can also ask a Sony service center for further support. According to Phone Arena, users who are already experiencing heating issues on the Xperia Z3+ claim that the device has a propensity to heat up while playing games, watching HD videos on Netflix, or recording a video.

Sony launched the Xperia Z4 in Japan on Wednesday last. The Xperia Blog stated that people who have bought the Xperia Z4 handsets have been already complaining about heating issues. In fact, a number of Japanese retail outlets are cautioning the potential customers regarding the heating issues related to the chipset.

Despite the fact that the Snapdragon 810 chipset is notorious for heating issues, several flagship devices such as the LG G Flex 2 and the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro powered with the same processor were launched earlier this year. In addition, the Snapdragon 810 chipset also powers the HTC One M9.

On the other hand, Samsung decided to launch its flagship smartphone the Galaxy S6 powered by its own Exynos chip ever since the Snapdragon chip has been in the news for heating problems. Even the recently unveiled LG G4 does not feature the notorious chipset. It is powered by the Snapdragon 808 chipset.
