Sonic the Hedgehog Rumors for New Game in 2015 on Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One 'Incorrect' Says Sega (PICTURE)
Yesterday rumors surfaced that put everyone's favorite blue video game character Sonic the Hedgehog in a new game for the Wii U, PS4, and Xbox One come 2015; those rumors have now been confirmed as false by Sega.
A screen shot taken at the Nuremburg Toy Fair of a display, surfaced online and showed off both information for the new games and new show. The reason the screen shot was odd was because Sega had a three game deal in place exclusively for Nintendo. Having Sonic come out for Sony and Microsoft would mean the deal had changed. Thus far, there have only been two Sonic related titles; Sonic: Lost World and Mario & Sonic Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
IGN reported that perhaps a third Sonic game is set to arrive later this year, which could be the reason these games received listing. This new game was maybe not listed because it is still in development.
"SEGA is yet to announce details of upcoming console video games for Sonic the Hedgehog or further details regarding the new Sonic CG TV series," a statement by Sega to IGN said. "The recent information coming out of Nuremburg Toy Fair was incorrect." See the display here.
The rumored "Sonic Boom" cartoon will allegedly air on Cartoon Network this fall, and will feature 52 eleven minute episodes. According to the display the show will be completely in CG.
Sega concluded with, "For official and up to date news regarding Sonic the Hedgehog please go to www.sonicthehedgehog.com or follow Sonic on Twitter (@sonic_hedgehog)."
