'Son of God' Actor Diogo Morgado Takes Turn Away From Jesus to Play 'Devil-Like' Character in 'The Messengers'

'Son of God' star Diogo Morgado is stepping out of his Jesus role and heading in the complete opposite direction.

Morgado was just cast as the Devil in a new TV show reported TMZ. The series, "The Messengers," will air on the CW, and not many other details have been revealed.

According to TMZ, sources told the site Morgado will be playing a Devil-like character, but will not fully announce the details for fear of Christian backlash.

Morgado has been heralded as the "hot Jesus" and has attempted to deflect all questions of his sex appeal when given the opportunity.

To his noticeable surprise the actor is being met with questions about women, along with headlines that read, "Meet the Hunk Who Portrays Son of God," and is being portrayed as a sex symbol all while he is on his Son of God promotional tour.

"There's a whole generation that doesn't know about the Bible and Jesus...It's a story that deserves to be in the big screen," Morgado said to ET's Nancy O'Dell, when passionately describing his excitement for the film hitting theaters.

After discussing the film a bit, the interview switched gears and the 34-year-old actor was questioned about himself. "You have become an international sex symbol because of this huge role," O'Dell said.

To which he responded, "that's not true" but she insisted that it is true even going as far as saying that "Jesus would not lie." He casually denied any romantic links and spoke of his discrete everyday life.

'Son of God' debuted on February 28.
