"Sleepy Hollow" Spoilers: Tom Mison Talks about His Ordeal While Shooting With a Crow for Season 2, Episode 5
If you thought that crows and ravens only featured in the fantasy drama television series "Game of Thrones," you are utterly mistaken. In the supernatural television drama "Sleepy Hollow" Season 2, episode 5 that will be aired on Monday, Oct. 20 at 9/ 8c on Fox Network, fans will be seeing a scene that involves a bird and Ichabod Crane.
According to CaterMatt, the filming of this scene took much more time than the time for which it will appear in the show.
Talking to TVLine recently, "Sleepy Hollow" star Tom Mison gave an account of the behind the scene happenings.
Referring to a scene, in which Ichabod's captive wife Katrina communicates with the witnesses through a message-carrying raven, Mission said quite seriously, "Never mind 'Don't work with children or animals,'" adding, "Just don't ever work with crows."
Mison actually talked about this ordeal for the first time at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. He said, "Trying to get a little bit of paper out of the crow's mouth, and he bit my hand to buggery." Mison further said that the difficult guest star, apparently, did not try very hard to make friends on the series' set.
"His name was Shaft. Shaft, the crow. They just let the camera roll and for about 15 or 20 minutes - a long time - it was just me going up, holding my hand out, trying to get the crow to drop the bit of paper in my hand. Instead, he'd put it next to him, peck my hand, and pick it up again," Mison remembers, laughing.
He goes on to say, "One of the best moments, the crow wrangler - what a job description - was just out of sight, hiding behind a bookshelf. I heard him at one point go, 'Goddamn it, Shaft, you're being an idiot!' which is my quote of the season. It's my favorite."
Meanwhile, CarterMatt reports that this is one of the problems that one faces on just about every show when they are working with animals. "Sometimes, it's very hard to know what you are going to be up against. However, the crow is very important to the story here, as it is the source of communication between Ichabod and Kristina while the two parties are separated (yet again). This one should be very fun to watch, and we'll have something more about it here on the site very soon," the report adds.
