Skillets New single album "RISE" is coming June 25th
Christian Rock band, Skillet, has just announced the upcoming release of their new album "RISE" this June.
The band originally formed in Memphis, TN in 1996 by John Cooper, former vocalist for Tennessee progressive rock band "Seraph" and Ken Steorts of former band "Urgent Cry" have been recording record debuts ever since.
Skillet recently re-teamed up with Producer Howard Benson, who also produced bands such as: My Chemical Romance , and All American Rejects, for their upcoming album that was recorded in Los Angeles.
The bands first major album recognized in 2003 was Collide, which hit 179 on the Billboard 200 and number five on the Top Heatseekers. Since then, the band has released eight albums with two of them receiving Grammy nominations: Collide and Comatose and one album, Awake, being certified platinum.
The new album "RISE" is a series of songs that explain a teenage boy coming into adulthood and trying to figure out who he is, in a world full of problems that are outside of his control. The finishing product was more then what the band expected, the album ultimately tells a powerful story, while at the same time expanding the musical palette of Skillet itself. "The album is going to have a more raw, tough feeling to the lyrics and sound then past records of the group.
We've all been listening to more edgier, indie, alternative bands and its really affected my writing." stated John when speaking to AOL about the sound of the new CD. The sneak peak of the album will begin April 9th with their single "Sick of It" being available on iTunes. In promoting the album and single, the band is hosting a Instagram photo contest for fans to share what their 'sick of ' and post it on the site with hash tag #sickoffit and/or #skillet.
The lucky fans who send in their Instagram photos will be chosen to be in their upcoming lyric video as well as be shown on Skillets website. The lyric video will premiere by April 9th with the single. Skillet will be hitting the road this spring to promote for "RISE" starting in the U.S. and then ending in Russia come end of summer.
