Skillet Performs "RISE" on Conan / "Sick of It" Band Debuts New Music Video "American Noise" on Yahoo / Skillet Joins Carnival of Madness Tour in August [VIDEO]
Skillet has been blowing up with their latest album RISE. The band not only debuted their new music video for RISE hit "American Noise" but the band also played their titular single "Rise" on Conan last week.
After Skilletreleased RISE last week, and the album debuted at #1 on the Top Hard Rock and Top Christian Chart. RISE even grabbed the #4 spot on the Billboard Top 200. Going into its second week RISE is still pulling strong at #2 on the Top Rock Chart.
How can one explain Skillet's success? In today's cluttered musical landscape, how does an edgy Christian rock band from Wisconsin stay as relevant as some of the biggest bands in the world? [Along with Mumford & Sons and the Black Keys, Skillet was one of three rock bands to sell over 1 million units last year].
Maybe it has something to do with the "coming of age" concept on RISE.
"[The album is] a story of an average American teenager coming into adulthood and being faced with the world's problems - just the shocking, terrible events that occur, seemingly, every month, every week," says Cooper, according to USA Today. "School shootings. Bombings. Hurricanes. Tornadoes. It seems like things are going bad and getting worse."
Not only is RISE Skillet's first studio album in over four years, but it's also one of the highest praised records of 2013.
Skillet fans can catch the band performing hits from RISE on the Carnival of Madness Tour August 13 alongside Papa Roach and Shinedown.
