'Silent Hills' News: Guillermo Del Toro and Kojima Working On Another Project

It only scratches the surface to say that fans weren't pleased to hear the news that the 'Silent Hills' project that was to be hatched between Guillermo Del Toro and Hideo Kojima got cancelled.

While the reasons to the falling out is fairly shrouded in mystery, it is sure to have something to do with Kojima's break up with Konami. The demo that was released last year has since been pulled from the Playstation Store, however players who have downloaded it prior still have access to play it.

The project was indeed highly anticipated, and not so much because of the franchise, but because of the two producers who were putting it together. It may however delight fans to know that it isn't completely over for the two talented individuals.

"I love working with Kojima-san," Toro said in an interview with IGN. "We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that's not going to be [Silent Hills]."

While the project has been indefinitely dropped, fans were still very curious to what Toro and Kojima had planned for this adaptation. He decided to reveal a bit on how it would change the horror genre in video games.

"We were in the planning stages, and it's a shame it's not going to happen," del Toro said. "We were talking about really pushing the boundaries of the new consoles, and making the game really mess with your head. One of the great moments in Metal Gear [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that."

Toro unfortunately didn't give details on what they are setting out to work on now, but it's definitely something fans will want to look out for.
