'Silent Hills' Canceled News: Fan Starts Petition to Bring Game Back into Development

Fans are determined to not take the dismissal of the 'Silent Hills' project sitting down, as they've now devised a petition to get the game back in development.

It was recently confirmed that the highly anticipated game was cancelled, breaking the hearts of the many fans who couldn't wait to see what Guillermo Del Toro and Hideo Kojima had planned for the franchise.

Konami solidified the cancellation with this statement:

"Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic 'Silent Hills' project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued."

This followed after the removal of the 'Silent Hills' demo from the Playstation Store.

The petition has been started on Change.org, urging Kojima to come back to the game's production. It was started by Yauheni Zinkevich and has already gathered over 40,000 signatures as of Friday May 1st.

Zinkevich has also written a letter to both Del Toro and Kojima stating:

"Dear Hideo and Guillermo,

Hearing the cancellation of one of the most anticipated horror games is about the most heartbreaking thing horror fans had to swallow this year.

Since the first sight of the P.T Demo it was instant love, and it burned into the minds of everyone that this had to release at some point.

Although the reasons are not yet announced I am begging you along with countless others: Please continue the Development on Silent Hills, if the issue is money related, we would love to see a Crowdfunding campaign like Kickstarter to ensure you are getting all the financial help there is! We´d love to see it happen at some point and want to thank you for all the great games you have released so far!"

It's unknown what goal the petition is working toward in terms of signature, but every addition brings fans closer to reach the respected video game creators.
