Signs of The Times? Ebola Outbreak 'Worst in Recorded History'; Infected Missionaries of Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse Return to America (VIDEO)

Currently, the threat of an Ebola virus outbreak is imminent as two American Christian missionaries have been infected and are returning to the USA for treatment. At the same time, an infected doctor has sacrificed his own health to help a nurse who is battling the very same deadly disease.

Doctor Kent Brantly and Nurse Nancy Writebol were serving in Liberia as medical missionaries when they became infected with the virus. As of now the Ebola virus has no known cure, but according to Samaritan's Purse "an experimental serum" was offered to Dr. Brantly while still in Africa. Dr. Brantly reportedly selflessly turned down the dose of the experimental serum.

"An experimental serum arrived in the country, but there was only enough for one person. Dr. Brantly asked that it be given to Nancy Writebol," said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse.

Later the Dr. was able to receive a dose of the serum as well along with a unit of blood from a 14-year-old boy who had survived Ebola under his care, "The young boy and his family wanted to be able to help the doctor that saved his life," Graham continued.

Samaritan's Purse is currently working to evacuate all their workers to their home countries, "The evacuation of our staff is underway and will be complete this weekend," Graham said, assuring that none of the evacuating staff members are ill.

The Ebola Virus has now killed 729 people and has infected more than 1,300 people in the West African nations of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

The Ebola outbreak is reportedly the worst in recorded history, and the director-general of the World Health Organization warned, "This outbreak is moving faster than our efforts to control it."

According to Reuters, "more than 100 health workers" are now fighting Ebola in Africa and have contracted the virus themselves.

President Barack Obama hinted that the virus could potentially be a threat to America when he signed an amendment for an executive order that would allow him to command the detention of Americans who show the slight signs of "respiratory illness."

Americans who display "severe acute respiratory syndromes, which are diseases that are associated with fever and signs and symptoms of pneumonia or other respiratory illness," are at risk of being apprehended.

Although many continue their day-to-day life with perhaps no thought of the deadly virus, The World Health Organization is preparing and has launched a 100 million dollar response plan to fight the spread of Ebola. According to the CDC, there are currently 20 quarantine centers across America that are ready to receive Ebola patients if needed.
