'Sherlock' Season 4 Spoilers: Release Date Yet To Be Revealed
The British crime drama 'Sherlock', now on its 5th year, had its most viewers ever on English television during its third season. The series based on the legendary detective stories of 'Sherlock Holmes' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, has unexpectedly propelled its actors to mounting success in both the TV and film industries.
In light of this, 'Sherlock' show runner and PBS president Paula Kerger stated in a recent interview that it has become increasingly difficult to set a schedule where the two Sherlock main actors Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes) and Martin Freeman (John Watson) are both available at the same time.
Fans can remember that both actors were cast in 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' movie after the two gained a fair amount of recognition following 'Sherlock' series success. Cumberbatch soon after went on to star in the films 'Star Trek Into Darkness', 'The Fifth Estate', 'August: Osage County' and 'Twelve Years A Slave' over the past few years. Freeman, on the other hand, has joined the cast of 'Fargo' during its first season.
PBS CEO Kerger has assured the Sherlock fans during the Television Critics Association press tour that although it might take some time before the filming of the detective series can be arranged, the show's forthcoming 4th season will be well worth the wait.
Reports say that although PBS had tried its best to start production for the famed TV series sooner, the show will not start filming its upcoming 3-episode season until next year. Beyond that, no tentative release date for Season 4 has been announced as of yet either.
