With the hit BBC drama 'Sherlock' speculated for a Season 4 release sometime in 2016, fans are wondering about the reasons behind the long wait. 

This should not come as a surprise to fans, but only as a disappointment because all previous seasons had the same gap between them.

The show first premiered in 2010 followed by the second installment which was released in 2012 and the third is on 2014, so it will be most likely expected that 'Sherlock' Season 4 will be released on January 2016.

No significant spoilers are actually being released since the ideas for the new cases are still being conceptualized.

The delay of the fourth installment of the show is actually said to be due to the other commitments of the actors, and show producer Steven Moffat said that 'Sherlock' Season 4 will be totally different than what viewers are accustomed to.

Aside from that, a Christmas special of the show is slated to be released this December of 2015.
