'Sherlock' Season 4 Premiere Date News: Fans Continue to Await Specific Release Date Confirmation

Seven months after the 'Sherlock' Season 3 finale premiered, and there's still no concrete date for the Season 4 release of the popular BBC detective series.

It has been previously reported that the cast of the blockbuster TV series has already been booked to work in January for an upcoming 2015 Christmas Special, but it still remains unclear if the currently projected 2016 date for 'Sherlock' Season 4 will materialize.

'Sherlock' show runner Steve Moffatt, is already tied up with his latest TV hit, 'Dr. Who', and Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, is loaded with films he is scheduled to work on, starting with the ongoing production of the highly-anticipated 'Star Wars: Episode VII'.

Even Martin Freeman, who plays Dr. John Watson on the hit detective series, is a star in the up and coming 'The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies' where he plays the lead role of Middle-Earth's favorite hobbit, Bilbo Baggins.

Although fans of the BBC TV adaptation of Sir Conan Doyle's novel may have been running out of patience and perhaps left unsure if their favorite TV series will ever be coming to their TV screens, 'Sherlock' series creator Mark Gatiss provided reassurance.

He announced at the BAFTA Television Awards that production has already made 'significant progress' in their efforts to rake in all of its cast in one place at a given time. BBC has also assured its viewers that 'Sherlock' Season 4 is definitely set to happen, it's just that they're not sure when.
