Sherlock Season 4 in Jeopardy? No Air Date Set by BBC
Though BBC show "Sherlock" is a hit and beloved by fans, the network is yet to confirm the show's renewal. This comes as a surprise to fans, as show writers and creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gattis have previously said that they had both season four and five planned out. However, Steven Moffat is not concerned.
In an interview with The Mirror, the "Sherlock" creator admitted that the air date is not yet set.
"I have no idea" when Season 4 will air," Moffat said.
Moffat went on to say that the fact that the date is not yet set is not a bad thing, rather it's just the nature of the show. Moffat is not worried, and is confident the next season will air, it will just take time.
"If people have to wait two years, they'll have to wait two years," Moffat said.
He went on to compare waiting for season four to waiting for the next James Bond movie. The two experiences are similar in that fans know the next episode will happen eventually.
"When's the next James Bond film? You know, it's not that kind of show that turns up all the time. It's just not," Moffat said.
Not only is the lack of an official premiere date not a concern to Moffat, he believes it's a good thing.
"But the good news is, that probably means it will turn up sporadically for a very, very long while," Moffat explained.
So "Sherlock" fans can rest easy, while we don't know when the show will return, we do know it will return.
