Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort: Fault in Our Stars Acceptance Speeches Inspires Fans at Teen Choice Awards 2014 (VIDEOS)
'Divergent' and 'Insurgent' stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort both gave inspirational speeches after winning awards for their performances in 'The Fault In Our Stars' movie.
"I feel very honored to accept this award on the behalf of women and not only women but a very strong woman named Tris Prior, who was not born a superhero. She was not born with innate superhuman powers. Through the evolution of the movie, you get to watch her grow and get to watch her find her own confidence, which in turn brings her bravery," said Woodley to the audience at the awards show.
"In my opinion, you can be brave and jump off buildings...you can be brave and jump off trains. But the truest form of bravery and courage is to wake up every single day, and to be ourselves... You do you. I'm gonna do me," she added.
Woodley's speech was in reference to how her role as 'Divergent' heroine Beatrice "Tris" Prior, paled in comparison to her other iconic role as Hazel Grace Lancaster, a real life sixteen-year-old cancer patient who was forced by her parents to appear at support group for cancer patients, where she encounters her future boyfriend Augustus Waters (played by Elgort).
Woodley's 'The Fault In Our Stars' co-star Elgort echoed her sentiments regarding teens like Hazel going through a similar obstacle(s) in their lives.
"My heart goes out to everyone who's dealing with [cancer] because cancer sucks," said Elgort after he won the 'Choice Movie Actor Drama' award.
In addition, he was also the co-recipient of the 'Choice Movie: Chemistry' Award' along with his co-stars 'The Fault In Our Stars' Nat Wolff and Shailene Woodley.
Furthermore, Woodley and Elgort's other film 'Divergent' also won 'Choice Movie, Action/Adventure' awards on the same night their co-star Theo James won 'Choice Movie Actor, Action/Adventure' for the aforementioned action film.
The 'Divergent' film sequel entitled 'Insurgent' is expected to arrive in American movie theaters on March 20, 2015
