‘Shadow Realms’ Release Date, Gamescom Gameplay Trailer: Launch Set for Late 2015 [VIDEO]

BioWare Austin studio recently announced at EA's Gamescom in Germany that the multiplayer focused online game 'Shadow Realms' will be launched for PC in late 2015. In fact, the developers have been teasing about the game for quite some time now.

'Shadow Realms' is set in a contemporary fantasy world. According to Jeff Hickman, BioWare Austin general manager, it is an "online-only" RPG offering cooperative 4v1 gameplay. The game allows four players to combat an enemy known as the Shadowlord. Alternatively, gamers can choose to assume the role of the Shadowlord themselves.

Following the briefing in Germany, Hickman issued a press release that read, "This game brings us back to our roots in the realm of classic Pen and Paper RPG, but also delivers something that's completely new and innovative for our fans."

He added, "Shadow Realms is a new BioWare RPG that has the hallmarks of all BioWare games with a rich story, a unique world setting, and deep combat progression, but built as an interactive experience that evolves the genre and broadens the appeal to online gamers all over the world."

As far as the story of 'Shadow Realms' is concerned, the game happens as heroes on Earth, who were not aware that they possessed any magical powers, are being aroused and enlisted to tackle a force known as the Shadow Legions of Embra. BioWare Austin says that the story is narrated over various episodes, playing out in due course similar to a TV show.

As mentioned earlier, 'Shadow Realms' will be launched for PC in late 2015. Players can sign up to access the game's closed alpha period now by visiting the game's website. The website also offers plenty of information regarding gameplay, classes, skills, etc,
