Seth Rogen to Play Steve Wozniak in Upcoming Steve Jobs Biopic Set to Release Dec. 25
New reports have confirmed that 'Pineapple Express' actor Seth Rogen will play Apple co-founder Steve "Woz" Wozniak in the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic which is set premiere on December 25.
The Steve Jobs biopic will be helmed by Oscar-winning and 'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle, written by 'The Social Network' writer Aaron Sorkin, and produced by Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady.
For those who may not know, Wozniak contributed to the microcomputer revolution, as he designed both the Apple I and Apple II computers, back in the '70s. While he founded Apple together with Jobs and Ronald Wayne, Wozniak left the company in 1987.
Sorkin revealed that the movie will have three long scenes, each taking place backstage before one of Apple's famous product launches: the original Macintosh in 1984, the arrival of NeXT, and the first iPod launch in 2001.
On a side note, Apple co-founder, visionary and marketing genius will be played by 'Batman Trilogy' actor Christian Bale.
Stepping back, the 2013 'Jobs' film, which covered the era from 1974 to 2001 when the iPod arrived, starred 'Two and a Half Men' actor Ashton Kutcher and received negative reviews and mediocre box-office sales of $36 million.
The 2013 'Jobs' biopic also starred 'Frozen' and 'Love and Other Drugs' actor Josh Gad as Steve Wozniak.
Mac World reported that Gad was much more adept at his acting than Kutcher, who "didn't sound like he was about to break down in tears at any second."
Wozniak in the 2013 biopic was reportedly the "comic relief" and the "soul" of the movie.
Meanwhile, Rogen is out and about promoting 'The Interview', a film co-starring James Franco that Rogen himself co-written and co-directed with former 'Pont Grey Secondary' alum Evan Goldberg.
