Shonda Rhimes, creator of 'Scandal' revealed some information about the upcoming Season 4 that's set to premiere on September 25. Rhimes, who's also known for creating 'Grey's Anatomy' gave fans the inside scoop about 'Scandal' character Abby Whelan who's portrayed by Darby Stanchfield.

According to Rhimes, the highly anticipated installment will focus a lot on Abby who's a crisis management team member at Pope & Associates. The storyline will reveal who the character really is deep down, and how she ended up in Olivia Pope's consulting firm.

The latest season of the hit ABC drama series holds many surprises for its viewers as it picks up from where Season 3 left off.

Stepping back into the Season 3 finale that aired in April of this year, fans will note that many of the characters have found themselves at a crossroads.

Olivia Pope was last seen flying off on a jet to an undisclosed location with Jake Ballard, who's portrayed by Scott Foley. Also President Fitzgerald Grant, played by Tony Goldwyn has been re-elected as President while still mourning his son Jerry Grant Jr. who's portrayed by Dylan Minnette.

Besides that, fans will remember Harrison Wright's death on the show, as well as Olivia's father, Rowan Pope, who's behind the grand conspiracy that's responsible for Jerry's demise.

A reunion between Olivia and Fitz in the upcoming season is pretty much a given, but Rhimes promises that 'Scandal' Season 4 will take all the characters on some wilds through out the course of the installment.
