ABC Network has recently announced that the political thriller television series 'Scandal' Season 4 will premiere on Sept. 25. It is expected that the new season's first episode will open with a jump forward in time, disclosing Olivia Pope's new location.

Many fans were left with questions when learning about the imminent time jump come Season 4, to which show creator Shonda Rhimes made a comment, "I don't like the phrase time jump. We come back in a different place. I guess it's a time jump; it's not that big" she told Hollywood Reporter.

Additonally, Rhimes mentioned that the storytelling in 'Scandal' Season 4 would be "Olivia-centric."

It is mainly owing to Kerry Washington's real life pregnancy that the focus of the story was not completely on Olivia in the previous season.

In different interview with TV Guide, Rhimes informed that 'Scandal' Season 4 will mainly be Abby's season. Rhimes said, "A lot of what we know about Abby happens this season. A lot of what we discover about her and see about her back story will happen as we tell Abby's story."

Fans saw Season 3 end with Olivia boarding a plane taking off to an undisclosed location, since she blamed herself for Fitz's son death and all things that were happening around her. In fact, Jake was onboard too and there is a lot of speculation about the destination of the flight.

Although Rimes did not reveal anything regarding Olivia's new location, she told TV Guide, "When we come back into the season, we find ourselves is a surprising place both time-wise and location-wise."

As far as Jake is concerned and his triangular relationship with Olivia and Fitz, Rhimes said that in Season 3 finale, Olivia made it clear to Jake that she loved Fitz, but Jake decided to follow Olivia anyway.

Talking to TV Guide, Rhimes said, "So, whatever that relationship (Jake and Olivia) is, as fun or romantic or happy as that will be, she's very clearly in love with another man. I don't know what that holds for them. They have to face whatever that's going to mean."

Rhimes has also confirmed that Columbus Short will not be featured in Season 4 and it may be assumed that Short's character Harrison Wright is dead. She told Hollywood Reporter that every gladiator will be impacted by Harrison's death, especially Olivia. Also, Abby is a character to watch out for in the new episodes of 'Scandal'.

Rhimes concluded by saying, "It will be very devastating for Abby in a surprising way. You'll see how she's coping with it in a very different way than you would expect."
